✔️ The Surf Trip guided it’s not a surf lesson itself. We don’t film you, we don’t correct you (we can but not necessary). It’s an activity thought for surfers with experience who know how to surf the basics and have a great basic level which allows you to surf different waves in different conditions.
✔️ The guide knows very well all the waves, corners, conditions and waves of Gran Canaria. Surf and Longboarding styles. Bodyboard it’s not our speciality. He always looks for the best option of waves, according to the forecast, his knowledge, wave conditions, tides and wind, but also depending on your level and needs, so please, let him know what you expect to surf to suit you before arrival.
✔️ Gran Canaria has more than 100 different waves, we are sure that we can find the best one for you, in the best moment with the less people in the water!
✔️ The guided surf trip means that you will have one guide surfing next to you, explaining you how to get in and out of the water. Showing you the way that the rips and the mechanics of the wave works.
✔️ This doesn’t mean that the guide will be pushing you from the tail to take waves (as it happens in Bali for example, and we don’t support that method). He can help you out to decide sometimes (not as an obligation) which waves are good to paddle for and which ones not.
✔️ There will not be videos, photos or surf analysis done, just if there is a previous agreement with the instructor that might be a possibility.
✔️ In general it’s difficult to make a previous appointment to surf at certain fixed time.
✔️ Normally there is a meeting time the first day (when we do a test in a easy spot that could even be the local beach of La Cicer).
✔️ The rest of the week it’s planning day by day normally, depending on the upcoming forecast but we can adapt that to specific demand of the guest in case that he needs to plan it. If you choose the option of day by day planing, you might know that it always depends on the teacher availability and you need to be aware of that and don’t expect that the guide has 100% availability for you anytime.
✔️ The duration of the surf trip it’s a bit relative. In general we say that there are 2 hours of real surf into the water. But this is not a strict rule. We like to adapt and we don’t like to be checking the time in the water, so we are going to be surfing until we are tired of it. Sometimes it can last 1 hour sometimes 3 hours. Depends on the energy of the day, the waves, the people in the water, etc…
✔️ However, the surf guide could go out of the water if he feels tired or not good. Why? Because safety it’s the most important thing for us. So if he decides to go out of the water, you can stay longer if you wish. The guide will tell you and take a look at you all the time from the shore, helping you with signs to paddle out once you are tired of taking waves.
✔️ The total duration of the trip with the driving included, could be around 3 hours (flexible depending on the day).
✔️ It’s important to remember that surfing has episodes of localism, not so strong on Gran Canaria, but no worries, we know the right places where we can surf.
Even though, we always encourage surfers to respect surfing rules, preferences, be polite, don’t invade the peak just in first moment, say hello to everyone and have fun, even help others, when surfing with the other users of the beach.
If after all, the surfer/client don’t respect this rules, the guide can cancel the guided surf trip, without letting the client being able to get a refund of the days not surfed.
✔️ The groups normally are super reduced as it’s an option that are not often booked, most of the guests (95%) book surf lessons for beginners or private lessons for intermediate surfers. So it’s normal that the surf trip happens only with the Surf Guide Instructor. Even though it can be shared also with other people who booked it as well at the same time than you. It is not a closed private thing only for the persons who books.
✔️ If the conditions are safe for the guide and he considers it as a good option that doesn’t put himself in danger, yes. Otherwise, when the level is very high, the conditions are too risky for him (it can happen with very experienced surfers and super high class waves) then the guide might choose to stay on the shore and don’t go in.
✔️ We always recommend you to bring your own surf equipment.
✔️ If for any reason you can’t bring it with you, we are glad to lend you some of our surfboards for free. Some of them are in good shape and other ones are a bit older. It’s a service that we don’t charge extra money for it for it, we can offer you a wetsuit
✔️ You have to bring your own health insurance, so we strongly recommend you to bring with you the European Health Insurance card to get assistance in Spain. Feel Surf Camp don’t include the Insurance in case of surf accident while the surf trip guided.
✔️ If you need to cancel some surf sessions because of injury, health problems, weather conditions or others we are not refunding any money. Private travel insurances that you can contract on your own are covering this cases and we are glad to send you an invoice so you can ask them for money refund.
